Are you in need of a simple craft to make for the mother/grandmother in your life this Mother’s Day? Look no further, we can help you make a Mother’s Day clay fingerprint keychain!

It is a craft that you can do with all ages, it doesn’t take long, requires minimal supplies and will create a lasting keepsake that mom will treasure for years to come!

Follow these simple step-by-step instructions to create your own Mother’s Day Fingerprint Keychain.

Supplies Needed:

  • Rolling pin (Or something to roll the clay out with)
  • Sculpey clay (purchased at Walmart or Amazon)
  • Cookie Cutters
  • A child 😉
  • Straw
  • Keychain ring
  • Sculpey Knife (comes in kit or something to cut the clay with)
  • Parchment paper or foil
  • Baking sheet

Don’t be intimidated by the supply list, most of these items you can find in your home other than the clay.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

*Tip* Before starting lay some foil or parchment paper down so clay does not stick to surface.

  1. Cut clay in half, use the knife in scupley kit or a butter knife.
  2. Soften clay with hands, place parchment paper over clay and roll out until smooth with rolling pin (or whatever roller you have).
  3. Using a cookie cutter (or jar, cup, etc.) to make your shape. You can also cut out your shape using your knife, if you don’t have a cookie cutter.
  4. Use a straw to put a hole into the clay (this is for the key ring later.)
  5. Use your child’s pointer finger, toe or whatever they will let you use to add a finger print, then repeat at an angle to create a heart.
  6. Place clay on baking sheet or glass baking dish.
  7. Bake at 275* for 25 minutes.
  8. Take out of oven and let cool.
  9. Once fully cooled, attach key ring. (I used a pen to keep the key ring open while I slid the keychain on, just to be safe.)

That’s it! Wrap up this sweet gift for the mom in your life this mother’s day!

*Tip:  Use a permanent marker to write name and date on back of keychain, so mom can look back to see when it was made.
